Like any other desktop operating system, Ubuntu also allows you to change the region and language of your desktop. You can switch between the regions and add multiple languages as per your needs.

Follow the steps below to change the region or add multiple languages.

1. Right-click on the desktop and select “Settings“. From the “Region & Language” tab, you can change the region and add multiple languages.

In this example, we will add Hindi as a second keyboard language and will use English and Hindi simultaneously.

As you can see from the below image, English is the only language added by default on my Ubuntu desktop. To add another language, click “Manage Installed Languages.”

2. To install the language support, click “Install.”

3. Specify the password and click Authenticate.

4. To add another language, click the “+” sign.

5. Click on three dots as shown in the below image.

6. Select Other.

7. Select the language that you want to add. In our case, it’s Hindi (Bolnagri) and then click “Add“.

8. Hindi (Bolnagri) has been added as the secondary keyboard language. To test the language after the installation, click on the eye icon to open the on-screen keyboard.

9. Type anything to check if the newly installed language is properly working or not.

10. As you can see in the below image, we typed in English and Hindi.
