1. Open a web browser and sign in to your Gmail account.
2. Click Settings > See all settings at the top-right corner.

3. Select the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tabs, scroll down and under IMAP status, Enable IMAP and select Save Changes.

After enabling IMAP settings in Gmail, the next step is to configure an IMAP Gmail account in Thunderbird.
Open the Thunderbird email client. Go to File > New > Existing Mail Account.

Fill in the information such as your name, email address, and password and then click Continue.

You will see that the IMAP protocol is selected by default. Click Configure manually.

Make sure you have selected OAuth2 as the authentication method for IMAP incoming and SMTP outgoing email, otherwise you might get an error.
Click Done.

It will prompt you to sign in to your Gmail account and allow access to Mozilla Thunderbird Email.
Click Allow.

Gmail has been configured successfully in Thunderbird.
