- Operating Systems: The Backup Exec Server can only be installed on 64-bit OS platforms, with no support for server core.
- Processor: Intel 64, Xeon (64bit), AMD64, or compatible
- Memory: Required: Minimum 1GB, Recommended 2GB or above.
- Disk Space: 1.26GB for a typical installation, 1.91GB for includes all options, but make sure to have more disk space.

Installation of Veritas Backup Exec 21.2

Note: Backup Exec may install the following software’s during the installation process, Microsoft Report Viewer 2010 SP1, Microsoft.NET Framework 4.8, Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security, Update, Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update, Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Package, Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable Package, Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Express with SP3.
Extract downloaded Veritas Backup Exec 21.2 ISO file, right-click Browser and select Run as administrator.
Select Language as English and click OK.
At the home tab, select Pre-installation.
Select Backup Exec.
On the welcome page, click Next.
Select checkbox “Local Environment Check” and then click Next.
If ADK 1809 is not installed on the server, you will receive a warning for Microsoft Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit Version. Click on the link.
To create a Simplified Disaster Recovery feature it required ADK 1809
The next step is to download and install ADK and Windows PE add-on for ADK version 1809
Visit the following website to download ADK and Windows PE Add-on for ADK version 1809
Below are the downloaded “ADK” setup files.
You can install it directly on the computer or download and install it on another computer. Run the adk setup file. We will select Installation on a separate computer and then click Next.
On the Windows Kits Privacy page, choose No and then click Next.
Select “Accept” to accept the license agreement terms.
Select “Deployment Tools” and click Next. Wait for the installation process to complete.
Run the adkwinpesetup.exe file and follow the same process to install the Windows PE add-on for ADK.
Now rerun the prerequisites environment check and this time there will be no warning. Click the Finish button and you are good to go.
Click on the Installation tab and then click Backup Exec.
Select “I accept the terms of the license agreements” and then click Next.
Under select the type of installation that you want to run, choose “Typical installation” and click Next.
On the Computer Environment Checks page, click Next.
To verify Entitlement IDs, it requires an internet connection. We are not connected to the internet and are installing the trial version, so click OK. You can import the license after the installation.
This is the trial copy of the Backup Exec message that will pop up. Click OK.
Enter the domain credentials, click Next.
It will grant you log on as a service and log on using the batch logon type access rights. Click OK.
You can click on Add and add a remote host, or if you want to add it later on, click Next.
On the Backup Exec Install Summary page, click Install.
Installation is in progress.
Rebooting is required after the installation, so click on the Finish button. It will reboot the server.
