In the article, we will walk you through how to add a server to a Veritas Backup Exec.

It is a good practice to create a server group so that you can view the server information in the list of servers. By creating a server group, it is also easy for you to manage them based on types of servers or a server that resides at a specific location. It is also helpful when you want to monitor all the server statuses that are in a server group very quickly.

We have already added our server DC, and in this example, we will add our Exchange Server 2019 to the group of all servers.

1.Open Backup Exec, click Backup and Restore, and then click “Add Server.”

2. Select “Microsoft Windows computers and servers.” and then click on “Next.”

3. Select “Allow Backup Exec to establish a trust with the servers.” You can establish the trust relationship later as well, but it’s better to add it while you are adding a server, and then click “Next.”

4. Type the name of a server or the server’s IP addresses, or browse for any server that you want to add, and then click “Next.”

5. Select “Upgrade the Backup Exec Agent” and “Restart the remote computer automatically,” and then click “Next.”

6. Review the summary and click “Install.”

7. Installing the Backup Exec Agent for Windows is in progress. Wait for the installation process to complete; it will take a few minutes.

8. After the installation is complete, click “Restart initiated” to restart the remote server in order to put the changes into effect.

9. As you can see in the below image, we have added Exchange Server 2019 to the list of all servers.
